Why I Started Making Limited Edition Prints

Why I Started Making Limited Edition Prints - David Kirkman - Abstract Artist

Something kept coming up in conversations with people who found my work. They loved it. They’d been following along for a while. But either the wall space wasn’t there for a large original, or the budget just wasn’t right at that moment. I didn’t want that to be the end of the conversation.

So I started thinking about how to make the work accessible without making it less — because the thing people respond to most is the gold, the metallic texture, the way it catches the light. A flat print would lose all of that. So I reseached printers, papers, settings, photography and invested in myself. A Canon Pro printer, the best archival papers all allow me to create stunning hand embellished prints at home.

Same metallic effect. Same energy as the originals. Just a different scale and a different price point. I found a way to honour the originals and make my work more accessible.

The gold collection prints are 30×30cm and cost £125 including international shipping.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines, this is your way in.
