I walked in to David's exhibition with my husband at the Leigh Art Trail, and the moment we saw this piece, we couldn't stop coming back to it. Of all the paintings in the room, this one called to us. The colour, the movement, the feeling, it was as if it was painted just for us. We both saw weeping willows over a river, instantly taking us back to when we first met in Cambridge and walked those beautiful river paths ourselves. This August, we celebrated nine years of marriage, and that painting felt like a little snapshot of the beginnings of our relationship.
